Elizabethtown Planning Board met Monday evening prior to the Town Council meeting and approved a recommendation for a Special Use Permit from Campbell Oil Company to build an Arby’s Restaurant and new Minuteman Food Mart at the Sunoco gas station property beside McDonalds on Poplar St.   The car wash would be demolished but the gas station would continue to stay open until the new station/restaurant construction is completed.  The recommendation will be brought to the Town Council at their April meeting.  

During the Town  Council meeting, the first of two public hearings was held for citizen comments on the CDBG Infrastructure Grant Application to NCDENR for Clear Well at Well #4.  No comments were made by the public. 

In administrative matters, Council approved the Special Use Permit Order (amended Language) for New Construction for the Bladen County Detention Center as well as the RV Park at Greene’s Pond; and approved Tax Releases, monthly financial report and change order for the Automated Meter Replacement Project.

Eddie Madden, Town Manager announced that interim Planning Director Joey Taylor has accepted a new position with Campbell Oil.  During the transition period, Billie Hall will take on additional responsibilities of Planning and Zoning.  Madden will also work more closely with her and the Planning Board on P & Z matters as well.

A Budget Workshop will beheld on Thursday, March 26th.  The April Town Council meeting is rescheduled for Tuesday, April 7th, due to the Easter Monday Holiday.
