D J MasonWest Bladen grad D. J. Mason pumped in 12 points and grabbed 6 rebounds, but his Campbell Camels lost a 71-63 Big South Conference decision to Winthrop in Rock Hill, SC.

Mason also dished out 4 assists and blocked 3 shots. The Clarkton native dropped in an early lay-up and sank 2 free throws later in the half as the Camels built a 27-14 lead, before the Eagles rallied to within 33-30 at halftime.

Mason added 2 lay-ups and a free throw early in the second half, then turned a lay-up into a 3-point play to put Campbell up 44-40 with 14:10 left in the game.
The Eagles answered with a 15-2 run to take a 55-46 lead midway the second half.

Thursday night Mason tossed in 10 points and pulled down 5 rebounds, but Presbyterian outscored the Camels 5-2 in the final 1:26 to claim a 72-70 victory.
Mason slammed in a dunk and added a lay-up in the first half, but the Blue Hose led 38-33 at intermission.

The 6-6 junior drilled a 3-point shot to keep Campbell within 50-47. Mason hit a free throw and tossed in a lay-up to trim the Presbyterian lead to 66-65 with 2:58 left to play.

Campbell entertains Gardner-Webb tonight (Monday) at 8 p.m. The game will be televised on the American Sports Network by MASN.
