West Bladen grad Sayaun Dent posted a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds to help lead his Sandhills Community College Flyers to an 88-84 basketball victory over Prince George’s Community College (MD) Saturday in the District 7 Tournament championship game.

The Flyers improved to 23-8 on the season and will advance to the NJCAA Division III National Championship Tournament to be played in Rochester, MN March 14-16.

In the District 7 semi-final Friday night, Dent finished with 8 points and 6 rebounds in an 88-76 Sandhills victory over Anne Arundell Community College (MD).

Dent racked up 14 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists in a 119-54 Flyer victory over Combine Academy in Sandhills’ final regular season game. The Elizabethtown native led the Flyers with 22 points and 10 rebounds in an 87-79 loss to Central Carolina Community.

In an 85-74 Flyer victory over Johnston Community, Dent just missed a double-double with 14 points and 9 rebounds. Dent matched those identical numbers of 14 points and 9 rebounds in a 109-78 win over Washington Academy.

For the season Dent is averaging 10.8 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists per game.
