Spread the love

By Cara Beth Lewis

It’s fun to play in the snow, but what do you do when it’s just cold, wet, and icy outside; When snowmen, snowball fights, and sledding are not an option? Well, BladenOnline has decided to share some indoor entertainment ideas that can be fun for all ages. Whether you have power or not, whether you have children or not – here are some ideas on how to fight boredom during this freezing, gloomy weather.

With predictions of below-freezing temperatures and a significant amount of ice, power outages are likely. The activities listed below do not require power.

Build a blanket fort.

  • Collect all of the blankets and pillows you have on hand and use chairs, furniture, and any supplies you can find to make the “coolest fort ever.” Bring flashlights, books, card games, and snacks into your fort and enjoy the warmth that it provides. What could be more fun than an indoor-campout? The kids will love this!

Go on a scavenger hunt.

  • Create a scavenger hunt using items you have around the house. It can be as simple or as intricate as you’d like, because you get to make it exactly how you want! You can make cards with clues and hints for extra creativity.

Play a board game.

  • Sometimes we forget about how much fun playing a board game can be. If you are trapped in the house, what better time is there for a good ole’ board game? Pull out that Monopoly game that has been stored away and give it some long overdue playing time.

Best Recipe Competition.

  • Using only ingredients you have on hand, see who can come up with the best recipe. To make it even harder, it can’t be something you have made before, and no research is allowed – only creativity.

Have a fashion show.

  • Create the most interesting, unique, and the coolest outfit you can using only items you have in the house. The rules can be as strict or as loose as you’d like. Have a judge or a panel of judges to choose the most-fashionable winner.

Paper Airplane Competition.

  • Create and decorate paper airplanes, and see whose can fly the furthest, the highest, and whose is decorated the best.

Build an obstacle course.

  • An obstacle course can be a lot of fun for kids, and it is a great way to burn energy. Build your own unique obstacle course using furniture and other items you have on hand. It can be as intricate or as simple as you’d like. Video each person who braves the course, making for more entertainment later.

Play movie charades.

  • With a one-minute time limit, take turns reenacting movies, or even books and TV shows. This can be played with teams or individually, and you can determine if props and costumes are allowed for extra creativity!

Build with marshmallows and toothpicks, then roast them.

  • Build the best structure you can using marshmallows and toothpicks. Use your extra marshmallows and toothpicks for roasting. You can use a candle for indoor roasting.

Redecorate or rearrange.

  • Make homemade decorations, move stuff around, and switch things up. It is always exciting to try something new, and it can make your space feel bigger, nicer, and more appealing.

Stay safe and stay warm this weekend, and don’t forget to have fun!
