Bladen County United Way Day of Caring has reached its 10 year anniversary. Stacie C. Kinlaw and Barbara Knight co-chairs of Bladen County’s United Way Day of Caring announced the upcoming plans to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the event.

Today, David Currie and Cory Nance with DuPont confirmed DuPont was stepping up yet again to support the annual event. The company will be donating $5,000 as a corporate sponsor and their employees will also be participating in the Day of Caring planned projects. DuPont has been a corporate sponsor of Bladen County’s United Way Day of Caring since it’s inception.

Mr. Nance said DuPont has been helping United Way for 40 years.

Mr. Currie explained the United Way Day of Caring allows neighbors to help neighbors.

This year the Day of Caring will be a week long event offering community project opportunities for people to participate in while practicing safety measures during the COVID-19 Pandemic. The caring projects in the community will start Monday, November 2 and end on Saturday, November 7, 2020.

“We need volunteers from businesses, churches and civic organizations to help make this year the best ever,” Mrs. Knight said.

Mrs. Kinlaw said, “We have plenty of projects for volunteers to choose from to help with this year’s United Way Day of Caring.”

Volunteers are needed and may choose from a variety of projects. The projects include writing letters or creating cards for  Bladen County nursing home residents, local veterans or for local emergency responders. Other projects include helping build wheelchair ramps, assisting with home repairs, participating in the Harmony Hall Work Day, cleaning up litter, or helping pack food school children.
