The Sandpipers scored in every inning Thursday night and defeated the Force 12-1 in Bladen Recreation 11-12 Softball action at County Park.

Alexus Mitchell walked to begin the Sandpiper first inning and raced home when Maegan Burney lined a double to leftfield. Burney later scored on a wild pitch for a 2-0 lead.

Stacey Gomez and Lauren Council drew walks in the Sandpiper second inning and both runners scored on wild pitches to pad the lead to 4-0.

Luz Ramos walked to start a third inning Sandpiper rally. Burney slammed her second double of the game to drive in Ramos. AnnaGrey Heustess beat out a bunt single as Burney scored. Madison Taylor knocked in Heustess with a single that stretched the lead to 7-0.

Ashlyn Williams walked to ignite a 5-run, fourth-inning for the Sandpipers. Alyssa Strickland drove in Williams with a single, and Council belted a single. Kayla Norris cracked a single that plated Strickland.

Dyiamon Robinson and Ramos drew walks that forced home Council and Norris. Robinson sped home on a wild pitch that grew the lead to 12-0.

Madison Larrimore drew a 2-out walk in the Force fourth-inning. Lauren Gooden smacked a single, and Hannah Pait drove in Larrimore with a single.

Burney batted 2-2 with the two doubles to lead the Sandpiper hitters. Heustess, Taylor, Strickland, Council and Norris connected for one hit each.

Taylor pitched the scoreless first inning for the Sandpipers, striking out two and walking two. Strickland pitched the final 3 innings to record the win, allowing a run on 2 hits, 2 hit batters and a walk while striking out five.

Gooden pitched all 4 innings for the Force allowing 12 runs on 8 walks, 7 hits, and a hit batter while striking out six. Gooden and Pait led the Force hitters with one hit each.
