Eleven Bladen County Fire Departments were approved to receive 50/50 matching grants from the State of North Carolina through the 2018 Volunteer Fire Department Fund. The announcement was made by the Bladen County Fire Marshal’s Office on Monday evening.

Bladen County Fire Marshal Ken Clark said, “This amount is their part of the 50/50 state grant.”

The fire departments who are approved to receive funds and the amounts are as follows:

*Bay Tree Lakes Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. for the amount of $15,608.57

*Bladenboro Fire Department for the amount of $8,512.50

*Carvers Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. for the amount of $3,420.00

*Clarkton Fire Department for the amount of $16,434.00

*Dublin Fire Department for the amount of $19,030.23

*Hickory Grove Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. for the amount of $25,219.50

*Kelly Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. for the amount of $30,000.00

*Tar Heel Rural Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. for the amount of $25,130.07

*The Ammon Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. for the amount of $4,455.00

*Lisbon Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. for the amount of $11,970.00

*White Oak Fire Department, Inc. for the amount of $20,812.00

All of the grants total $180,591.87. Statewide 507 fire department were approved to receive grant totaling $8,371,830.87.

According to the North Carolina Department of Insurance Office of the State Fire Marshal, the grant funds can be utilized to purchase equipment and for other related capital expenditures.
