The Elizabethtown Police Department held their 12th annual Kid’s Appreciation Day this Saturday. It was a successful event according to many in attendance.

Lt. Dwayne Cheshire helped organize the vendors. There were about a dozen offering different activities, information and services. Safety tips for skate boarding, emergency services giving tours of their equipment, and Families First bringing awareness to domestic violence were just a few of the vendors on site.

The Baseball Derby was a hit. Lee Barnes won first place in the derby. The Police Department also held their annual bike giveaway at the event. Ace Wrecker gave away a bike too.

Zachariah Clark, one of the bicycle winners said with excitement, “This was the bike I wanted and then they said 5-4-8 and I said Yeah!” Some of the bike winners wasted no time taking their new wheels for a spin.

After all the food, music, and fun was over everyone was seen leaving with smiles. Elizabethtown Police Chief Tony Parrish said, “We always enjoy this event. We have to give to the kids. It’s what it’s all about.”

In total 9 bicycles were given away and

McDonald’s  of Elizabethtown gave away coupons for free ice cream to the children in attendance.
