The Bladen County 10U All-Stars won the State-Wide Activities Committee (SWAC) State Softball Tournament with a 6-0 victory over Edenton. Rylee Chadwick pitched a complete game no-hitter and struck out 12 batters in the championship game.  Addie Bowen, Emma Turbeville, McKenzie Singletary, and Lainey Hughes belted hits for the Bladen team.

Bladen County beat Rolesville 9-1 as Chadwick threw a one-hiter and struck out 12 strike-outs. Chadwick walloped 3 hits including a 3-run homer, and Turbevile and Huges added 2 hits each. In a 15-4 win over Lee County, Chadwick cracked 2 hits and Hughes doubled.

Chadwick and Bowen combined on a no-hitter and Chadwick struck out 11 in a 12-4 win over Onslow County. Chadwick doubled, and  Emma Turbeville and  Singletary smacked 2-run singles to lead the Bladen hitters.

Members of the Bladen 10U All-Stars were: Addie Bowen, Rylee Chadwick, Molly Evans, Gracie Faircloth, Lainey Hughes, Karli Priest, McKenzie Singletary, Zoe Smith, Laci Storms, Madison Taylor, Lena Trinidad and Emma Turbeville. Coaches were Matt Chadwick, Barry Priest and Brad Turbeville.

Elizabethtown’s Major League All-Stars finished third in the Dixie Youth Baseball State Tournament. The Elizabethtown team was edged 8-7 by Whiteville then regrouped to win 4 games in a row. Ty Mathis, Garrett Melvin and Evan Pait combined to shutout Sampson American 15-0 on one hit, and Mathis slugged a 3-run homer.

In a 12-7 victory over South Park, Raymond Autry blasted 2 home runs, and Freddie Wooten hit one homer. Autry and Wooten combined on a 3-hitter and struck out ten in a 15-2 win over Whiteville. Wooten slammed 2 home runs, and Ayden Piland, Melvin and Autry hit one homer each. In an 11-1 win over Whiteville, Autry fired a 2-hitter with 10 strike-outs. Coleman Tatum crushed 2 home runs, and Pait and Piland connected for one homer each.

Members of the Elizabethtown All-Stars who were District 9 Champions were: Coleman Tatum, Chase Starkloff, Garrison Tatum, Tyler Hill, Ty Mathis, Evan Pait, Mahki Cromartie, Raymond Autry, Garrett Melvin, Freddy Wooten, Ayden Piland, and Victor Campbell. Coaches were Quan Wooten, Anthony McKoy, and Kendell Kelly.

Elizabethtown beat West Robeson National 8-2 in the District 9 title game behind a Ty Mathis complete game. Melvin, Wooten, Campbell and Pait all had 2 hits with a double each. Autry also had 2 hits. An earlier 8-1 district win over West Robeson National 8-1 was highlighted by 3-run homers from Mathis and Autry.

Bladenboro’s Junior Nance birdied the first play-off hole to win the Robeson County Golf Championship’s Regular Division at Pinecrest Country Club in Lumberton.

Nance won the Senior Division in 2015 and decided to move up to the Regular Division for the 2016 tournament. The birdie on Sunday’s 19th hole capped a day that saw Nance make 17 pars and 2 birdies to rally from 5 shots down and win the championship.

Three West Bladen softball players were on the Lumberton Dixie Belles State Championship team. Carley Dawson homered, and Conner Brisson doubled in a 10-2 win over East Columbus. Carley Dawson blasted another homer, and Brisson ripped another double in a 15-5 win over Kings Mountain.

Carley Dawson hammered a double and a triple in an 11-7 win over West Stanley. Carley Dawson knocked in the winning run in a 4-3 win over Brunswick County West in the championship game. Brisson drilled a double and a triple, and Abby Dawson knocked in a run in the title game with a double.

Elizabethtown’s Class AA (Coach-Pitch) All-Stars reached the final four of the State Tournament. Elizabethtown was beaten in their tourney opener by South Park then reeled off wins over Columbus County 15-6, Hope Mills 11-6 and Dunn 7-2 before being eliminated by a second loss to South Park.

Members of the Elizabethtown All-Stars were: Zach Sholar, Tyler Lewis, Davion Lewis, Mason Smith, Ryan Dove, Jake Gooden, C. J. McCracken, Colton Daly, Ahmarie White, Easton Bostic, Dawson Wright and Isaiah Robinson. Coaches were Kevin Dove, James Ben Daly, Warren Sholar and Kyle Bostic.

The Elizabethtown Majors Supplemental All-Stars rolled through the District 9 Majors Supplemental Tourament winning their 3 games by a combined score of 32-0. K. J. Brown pitched a pair of shutouts in the tournament, and Malcolm Bolden and Elijah Bullard walloped home runs in the championship game.

Members of the Supplemental Champs were: Jake Futrell, Tyler Johnson, Nathan Howell, Destin Montgomery, Elijah Crabtree, Walker Ward, Elijah Bullard, Malcolm Bolden, Zamar Lewis, K. J. Brown, Carson Green, and Ryan Johnson, Coaches were Ashley Harrelson, Nick Gooden and Kevin Crabtree.

Bladen County reached the ‘Final Four’ of the North Carolina Dixie Boys State Tournament with a 6-5 victory over Brunswick County as Gabe Barber and Ethan Johnson cracked 2 hits. Earlier Bladen had beaten North Granville 6-3 as Johnson batted 3-4 with a double, and Xavier McKoy was 2-2.

Members of the Bladen All-Stars included: Zach Meares, Cody Butler, Greyson Clark, Gabe Barber, Brady Hollingsworth, Xavier McKoy, Drew Sholar, Ethan Johnson, and Jake Evans.

The Elizabethtown AAA (Minor League) All-Stars were awarded the District 9 AAA Sportsmanship Trophy for their conduct and sportsmanship during the District 9 AAA Tournament in Pembroke.

Members of the Elizabethtown All-Stars were: Parker Greene, Chase Knight, Garrett Dunham, Phillip McKiver, Zachary Smith, I’keir Murchison, Cole Butler, Hunter Smith, Britt Sasser, Hunter Elks, Lee Barnes, and Jordan Hester.

Coaches were Steve Smith, Kevin Dunham, and Chris Butler.

West Bladen was awarded the Sportsmanship Trophy for their conduct and sportsmanship during the North Carolina Dixie Pre-Majors State Tournament in Leland.

Members of Coach Kim Cain’s West Bladen Dixie Pre-Majors squad were: Weston Pidgeon, Logan West, Jarrett Williams, Trent West, Scott Bowen, Caleb Sholar, Dalton Pait, Hunter Pait, Jalen Drew, Jonathan Ashworth, Ian Sykes, Trey Storms and Jonathan Robinson.
