2018 was a busy year in Bladen County sports. The second half of the year proved to be a busy one with teams qualifying for play off berths and athletes being named to All Conference Teams.

Former West Bladen and UNC-Wilmington golfer Kayla Thompson’s attempt to qualify for the LPGA tour in August was the second most viewed sports story for 2018. https://bladencounty.org/kayla-thompson-to-attempt-to-qualify-for-lpga/

West Bladen’s Autumn Brisson and Alyssa Bell Won the Three Rivers Conference Doubles Championship, and teammate Savannah Lee was named the TRC Player of the Year and qualified for the state tournament.  Savannah Lee Named Three Rivers Player of the Year – BladenOnline.com 
West Bladen won the Three Rivers Conference girls team tennis championship with a perfect 16-0 record but was defeated in the first round of the state play-offs by Greene Central.

East Bladen’s men’s soccer team won the Three Rivers Conference championship and finished with an 18-2-2 record after falling to Dixon in the second round of the state play-offs. Eight Bladen Athletes Named All-Three Rivers Conference Soccer – BladenOnline.com
East Bladen’s football team played for the Three Rivers Conference football championship but lost at South Columbus and finished second. Coach Robby Priest’s Eagles were eliminated by Wilson Beddingfield in the state play-offs. Eight Bladen Athletes Named All-Conference Football – BladenOnline.com

Clarkton School of Discovery won the newly formed Waccamaw Middle School Conference AA Division girls soccer championship with a 6-0-1 record. Their tie was against AAA Division champion Whiteville Central.

Elizabethtown won the Waccamaw Middle School North Conference  football championship with a 3-1 league record.

The Tar Heel boys soccer team won the Waccamaw Middle School Conference AA Division with a 6-1 record. Elizabethtown won the AAA Divison with a 7-1 record.
