The East Bladen High School commencement exercises for the graduating class of 2019 was held Friday, June 14, at 6 p.m. in the school’s gymnasium. The seniors and dignitaries marched into the packed auditorium in a processional to “Pomp and Circumstance.”

LeeDenasia Cotten performed the National Anthem after the East Bladen JROTC presented the colors. East Bladen senior Ting Lin welcomed the audience and senior Hailey Hudson acknowledged the distinguished guests.

Senior Ashley Earl presented the 2019 Marshals before Valedictorian Katie Pontak gave a heartfelt speech to the senior class with well wishes.

East Bladen Principal Dr. Jason M. Wray addressed the seniors before awarding the diplomas.

“They have worked hard for this moment,” Wray said. “Let’s show them the respect they deserve.”

Bladen County Schools Superintendent Dr. Robert P. Taylor stated in the program, “This joyful but solemn occasion honors our graduating seniors and the parents who have nurtured them, teachers who have guided them and friends who have strengthened them.”

Wray, Taylor, along with assistant principal Heather Thompson and Sunday Allen assisted in awarding the diplomas.
