Before COVID-19 shutdown most of the 2020 sports seasons, East Bladen’s boys and girls won their first meetings of the season with West Bladen. Patience Ward signed to play basketball in college, and Gabe Barber received another soccer honor.
Senior Tyre Boykin received recognition from state and national media for scoring all of West Bladen’s 41 points in a 60-41 loss to East Bladen in the first meeting of the season between the two rivals.

A late East Bladen run pulled out a 45-35 victory for the Lady Eagles over West Bladen that vaulted the Lady Eagles into second place in the Three Rivers Conference in their first meeting of the season.

Clarkton School of Discovery edged Bladenboro 40-39 in the championship game of the Bladen County Middle School Boys Basketball Tournament. Coach Robert Mazur’s Blue Devils defeated Elizabethtown 44-35 in the opening round, while Bladenboro advanced with a 53-19 win over Tar Heel.
Laila Smith poured in 30 points to lead Elizabethtown to a 48-26 victory over Bladenboro in the championship game of the Bladen County Girls Middle School Basketball Tournament. Coach Cedric Owens’ Lady Cougars defeated Clarkton School of Discovery 35-28 to reach the title game, and Bladenboro downed Tar Heel 37-11 in their semi-final game.
