The Beta students represented Clarkton School of Discovery successfully at the Beta Convention on January 30 through February 1 in Greensboro, North Carolina. Clarkton students were victorious in numerous competitions winning sixteen awards.

Ryne Priest, a 6th grader won, 2022-2023 NC Junior Beta President. Fellow Beta members attending the convention voted Ryne to represent the State Beta Club. Other individual awards included:

  • 1st place Digital Arts-Claire Devance
  • 1st place Drawing- Claire Devane
  • 2nd place: Performing Arts- Danyelle Cotton
  • 3rd place Speech- Paul Smith
  • 3rd place: 8th Grade Science: Paul Smith
  • 3rd place: 8th grade Social Studies: Jackson Bridgers
  • 5th place: 6th grade Social Studies: Noah White
  • 5th place: Woodworking: Jaxon Hair
  • 5th place: Creative Writing- Jamiya Peterson

Golden Tickets were given to Danyelle Cotten and Carlee Atkinson.

Other events included group participation from Beta members. The group competitions showed determination, talent, and cooperation among the Beta Members. Several first-place awards showed the student’s efforts during the convention.

  • 2nd place: 2D Design
  • 2nd place: Portfolio
  • 2nd place: Service Learning Project
  • 3rd place: Songfest

“ It was more than I could have ever imagined it would be! Best experience of my life with kids that have truly stolen my heart! Said Elizabeth Priest. “They work hard, they are eager to try new things, and ultimately will do what it takes to win. They mastered our plan and we can’t wait to take it to Nationals,” Elizabeth Priest and among several staff members at Clarkton served as Beta sponsors.

Clarkton School of Discovery will have the opportunity to attend and compete at the National Beta Club Convention in Nashville, Tennessee. The convention will last from June 27, 2022- to June 30, 2022.
