May started with both Bladen girls’ soccer teams qualifying for the state playoffs, and East Bladen advancing to the second round. West Bladen and East Bladen’s softball teams reached the playoffs and East Bladen suffered a tough loss when East Duplin rallied for a walk-off win with 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning.

Coach Grant Pait’s Eagle baseball team knocked off No. 2 seed Camden County 11-6 in the first round of the playoffs, before North Lenoir rallied past the Eagles 10-6 in their second round game.

West Bladen’s girls won the Southeastern Athletic Conference track & field championship led by Trinity VanEyken, Jessalynn Vendrick and Shanyla Hunter. Nine Bladen girls qualified for the state championship meet. East Bladen’s Malcolm Bolden and West Bladen’s Tydrick Stewart posted top ten finishes in the state boys meet.

Former East Bladen star Kayleigh Raynor had a big softball season at Methodist. West Bladen’s John Bowen and Demarius Robinson made commitments for next season. Logan West received college baseball All-Conference honors. East Bladen’s Maya McDonald received all-state soccer honors. Athletic award programs were conducted across the county.
