Three Clarkton men were arrested Wednesday on drug charges after a search of a house on North Mitchell Ford Road, Bladen County Sheriff Jim McVicker said.

Officers with the Sheriff’s Office, Elizabethtown Police Department and Clarkton Police Department found more than six ounces of marijuana and a large amount of prescription pills at the residence, McVicker said.

Charged were:

Ronald Campbell, 38, of the 100 block of North Mitchell Ford Road, Clarkton, on possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, manufacture marijuana, and maintain a dwelling to sell narcotics. Bail was set at $60,000.

Kevin Simpkins, 47, of the 200 block of West Hester Street, Clarkton, on possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, and manufacture marijuana. Bail was set at $30,000.

Alfred Burney, 30, of the 200 block of West Hester Street, Clarkton, on trafficking opium by possession, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, possession with intent to sell and deliver depressants or stimulants, manufacture marijuana, and possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana. Bail was set at $100,000.

“We are continuing to respond to complaints and information passed to us by the citizens of this county,” McVicker said. “Drug use and the sale of these drugs remain a problem and we work at it constantly.”

McVicker said anyone with information about the sale of narcotics in Bladen County should call the Sheriff’s Office at 862-6960 or send a text to the tip line at 874-8124. All information will remain confidential and callers will remain anonymous.
