The identities of the four people killed Sunday morning in a wreck near Garland were released Monday by the N.C. Highway Patrol.

Three people from Harrells and a man from Lakeland, Florida, were killed in the wreck that happened about 3:15 a.m. on U.S. 701 near the Bladen/Sampson County line. Two people from Harrells were seriously injured and taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

The five people from Harrells involved in the wreck all lived at the same address on Sleepy Creek Drive.

Those killed were:

** Karl Lamont Jones, 54, of Lakeland, Florida. He was the driver.

** Melquiades Ramirez, 24.

** Ricardo Ramirez, 21.

** Luis Felipe Rocha Madrigal, 24.

The two people injured were Rachel Gaulk, 29, and Victor Manuel Lobaton Mendoza, 24.

According to the Highway Patrol report, Jones was the driver of a 2006 Ford pickup that was traveling south on U.S. 701 about 3:15 a.m. when the vehicle went off the road onto the right shoulder. The vehicle then overturned and struck a tree. Investigators believe alcohol was a factor in the cause of the wreck.
