Here are three things to know for Monday, Aug. 29:

1. Today is the first day of classes for students attending Bladen County public schools that are on the traditional calendar. School buses will be on the road in early mornings and late afternoons.

2. The East Bladen and West Bladen boys’ soccer teams and volleyball teams as well as the East Bladen girls’ tennis team are scheduled to play at home today. In soccer, unbeaten West Bladen hosts South Columbus at 6 p.m. and East Bladen welcomes North Brunswick at 5:30. In volleyball, it will be East Columbus at West Bladen at South Columbus at East Bladen with junior varsity matches beginning at 4:30 followed by varsity matches. In tennis, East Bladen is slated to be home for a doubleheader against South Columbus. (MASTER SCHEDULE)
