Three things to know for Thursday, August 11
1. The real football — the type where kicking the ball with your feet is the main part of the game — is on the Bladen sports calendar today. The Bladen Cup Soccer Scrimmage will be held at East Bladen High School. East Bladen plays West Columbus at 5 p.m. followed by Harrells Christian against South Columbus at 5:40. Losers play at 6:20 and winners play at 7 p.m.
2. Bladen County Economic Development will host a brainstorming session “How to improve the Small Business Environment in Bladen County” at Cape Fear Vineyard and Winery on Monday at 11 a.m. followed by lunch at noon. 3. Mark your calendar for the Back to School Bash on Aug. 27 at Cape Fear Farmers Market in Elizabethtown beginning at 10 a.m. There’s food, fun and free school supplies.
