Three Things to KnowThree things to know for Thursday, July 14

1. Depending on where you live, there’s been some heavy rain this month. However, Bladen Online’s rain gauge, located in the Cape Owen Manor subdivision outside Dublin, only 1.8 inches have been recorded in the first 13 days of July. In fact, through the first six months, 2016 has been much drier than 2015, according to the Bladen Online gauge. This year, through June 30, there’s been 20.71 inches of rain and there have been 59 days of measurable rainfall. The first six months of 2015 had 28.44 inches of rain and 70 days of measurable rainfall.

2. A survey by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety in 2014, but released today, found that about 80 percent of drivers in the United States admit to expressing anger, aggression or road rage at least once in the previous year. That includes following too closely, yelling at another driver, cutting them off or making angry gestures. Just a guess, but the other 20 percent of drivers didn’t answer honestly.

3. Speaking of being honest, have you played Pokemon Go on your phone? C’mon, be honest. It’s taken the world, and folks in Bladen County, by storm. If it gets kids outside, running around and exercising while chasing a nearby Pokemon, and, perhaps, learning about places, then all’s good.

And now you know.
