1. The Elizabethtown Major League is having quite a run at the Dixie Youth Baseball state tournament in Kenansville. Coach Anthony McKoy’s team has reached the bracket finals in the dual eight-team tournaments. So, the team is in the Final Four in the 16-team tournament. Elizabethtown whipped Whiteville 11-1 (click for story) on Wednesday night and play West Robeson National tonight for the bracket championship and a spot in the state championship series.

2. Jones Lake State Park is offering a viewing of an installment of “Planet Earth.” The viewing will be located at the Visitor Center at 8:30 p.m. and is free. Bring the family, chairs, popcorn, and drinks.  For information, call Ranger John Privette at 910-588-4550.

3. Pokemon Go is the rage these days. For some folks, it’s more than they can handle. Such as stories like this. You’ve probably seen a few.

Authorities in Encinitas, California, said two men who were playing Pokemon Go fell off an ocean bluff last week, The Associated Press reported in Southern California. Firefighters said the men climbed through a fence while playing the cellphone game. One man fell about 50 feet down the side of the unstable bluff and the other fell about 90 feet to the beach. Fortunately, they suffered only moderate injuries.
