The members of the 4-H in Bladen County are holding their second annual Christmas Toy Drive. Toys will be accepted through Friday, Dec. 4, at the Bladen County 4-h office located in the Powell-Melvin Agriculture Service Center between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Last year, the 4-Hers collected 70 toys and gifts. This year they hope to collect even more toys and games, said Stacie Kinlaw, 4-H youth development coordinator.

“I am excited about the great potential our Bladen County 4-Hers have to use this annual Toy Drive to give back to children in their community. We are so fortunate, and 4-H teaches youth to learn, to grow, and to give. This is one of the many projects each year that our 4-H families get to practice what they pledge by using their hands in service to others. We can also use our hands to encourage others to help give to this cause, so any eligible donation to this cause is welcome,” said Kinlaw.
Folks are asked to purchase non-violent gifts for children ages 1 to 18 who are served by the Bladen County Department of Social Services and the foster care system. Items accepted include dolls, dress up sets, Legos, scooters, games, jewelry sets, craft sets, music players, soccer balls, footballs, remote control cars, and action figures.

The items need to be new and unwrapped.
