White LakeBladen County Emergency Management Coordinator Bradley Kinlaw has been working with EMS to reduce the response time between Elizabethtown, White Lake and the surrounding areas.

It has been determined that relocating the EMS truck from the fire department to the Bladen County/White Lake Water Rescue building would reduce the response time as much as five minutes.  The Bladen County/White Lake Water Rescue building has overnight accommodations that allow the medics to sleep where the fire department does not.

Minor improvements are being made to the building to accommodate EMS’s needs on a 24 hour basis.  The most costly of the improvements is the installation of an automatic door on the bay that will house the EMS vehicle.  The cost of the door and installation is approximately $1600.00.

In an effort to keep the EMS truck at the Lake year round, Mr. Kinlaw is asked the Board to consider paying one half of the cost ($800.00) of the installation of the door and the County pay one half ($800.00).  The proposal was approved as presented.
