Sophia Masaid recorded a ‘Hat Trick’ of 3 goals to lead Clarkton School of Discovery to an 8-0 victory over Tar Heel Tuesday in Bladen Five Middle School Conference girls soccer action.

Masaid was also credited with one assist for the winners. Teammates Mauri Flores and Heather Hardin fired in 2 goals each for the Lady Blue Devils, and Flores also picked up an assist. Molly Evans finished with one goal and one assist for Clarkton.

Flores’ corner kick set up Masaid’s first goal in the game’s tenth minute. Three minutes later a Masaid assist led to a Hardin goal. Hardin blasted in a penalty kick in the seventh minute to grow the lead to 3-0.

Evans sent a pass to Masaid that resulted in her second goal in the 19th minute. Clarkton School of Discovery held a 4-0 halftime lead.

Masaid completed her ‘Hat Trick’ with a goal in the 33rd minute as the lead stretched to 5-0. Flores took over and scored unassisted goals in the 41st and 55th minutes to widen the gap to 7-0. Four minutes later Evans drilled in a penalty kick for the final Clarkton goal.

Ashlynn Williams was credited with the shutout in goal for the Lady Blue Devils.

Clarkton School of Discovery will play Bladenboro Tuesday at 5 p.m. Tar Heel will battle Elizabethtown in the 4 p.m. opener at County Park.
