Thoughts While Shaving

Not sure I have witnessed anything quiet like what is going on in our country right now.  Confusion in Congress as they attempt to pass a new tax plan; deadline for approval of upping the debt limit so the federal government can continue to operate; members of Congress are not immune from sexual misconduct charges that appear to be spreading across our great country.  North Korea apparently has the US in their cross-hairs with deadly ammo, loaded.  Congressional leaders and the President are on the same page some days and as usual, the party not in power is taking pot-shots at both.  There are Trump lovers, Trump haters, and many on the sidelines just observing, and wondering what will happen next…..Never a dull moment.

We live in the greatest nation in the world, but sometimes we have more problems (opportunities) than others.

Today marks the end of a long, distinguished career for a young lady who is retiring after 33 years, nearly all in Bladen County.  Sandra Cain, Bladen County Extension Director, is stepping down today.  Friends celebrated the occasion recently.  She has made a significant contribution to Bladen County and deserves some time for herself and her family.  We wish her the best.

Elizabethtown Optimist volunteers are nearing the end of another successful project, their annual Christmas Tree Sale.  They are located off West Broad Street, near San Jose restaurant, across the street from Subway.  No longer need to search for a tree in the woods among reptiles.  One of many events sponsored annually by Optimist members.

Bladenboro’s 44th Annual Christmas Parade is set for Saturday, 10:30 AM through the downtown area.  All are welcome.

Youth is a blunder; Manhood a struggle, Old Age a regret.  Benjamin Disraeli

The excitement of learning separates youth from old age.  As long as you’re learning you’re not old.  Rosalyn S. Yalow

To me – old age is always ten years older than I am.  Bernard Baruch

Old age is like a plane flying through a storm.  Once you’re aboard, there’s nothing you can do.  Golda Meir
