TAR HEEL – AnnaGrey Heustess poured in 27 points Thursday to lead Clarkton School of Discovery to a 32-9 Bladen Five Middle School Conference girls basketball victory over Tar Heel.
Heustess pumped in 4 baskets and a free throw in the first quarter as the Lady Blue Devils built a 9-4 lead. Le’nya Harrell tossed in 2 baskets for Tar Heel in the period.
Heustess fired in 4 more baskets and 3 free throws in the second period as the Clarkton lead grew to 20-5 at halftime. Kiera Lewis sank a free throw for Tar Heel in the quarter.
Mariah Smith threw in a pair of baskets, and Emma Turbeville hit a free throw for Clarkton in the third period. Harrell and Fabiola Sandoval popped in a basket each to keep the Lady Panthers within 25-9.
In the final period Heustess rang up 3 baskets and a free throw in the final period to finish with 11 baskets and 5 free throws in the game. Smith added 4 points for the winners.
Harrell topped the Tar Heel scoring with 6 points.
