East Bladen senior Xavier Wooten and Whiteville’s Brooks Baldwin were locked in a 2-0 pitching duel through 6 innings. A walk, a stolen base and an error produced a Wolfpack run in the first, and a passed third strike extended the Whiteville third inning. Dylan Lawson knocked in the unearned run with a double.

In the top of the seventh, two errors, 3 walks, a hit batter and two Whiteville hits produced six runs and an 8-0 Wolfpack lead.

East Bladen scored their run in the bottom of the seventh. Wooten was hit by a pitch, moved up on a passed ball and a fielder’s choice and scored on junior Shy Pone’s sacrifice fly.

Pone batted 2-2 with a double and the run batted in to lead the Eagle hitters. Seniors Sincere Smith and Ty Watkins belted singles for the other East Bladen hits.

Wooten pitched the first 6.1 innings and allowed 8 runs – 4 earned – on 5 hits and 8 walks while striking out four. Smith came on in relief to get the final 2 outs in the seventh, striking out one and walking one.
