RALEIGH – The State Highway Patrol is proud to announce the arrival of a team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) on Monday, Apr. 2 to examine aspects of the organization’s policy and procedures, management, operations, and support services.

 

The purpose of the assessment is to ensure SHP complies with 170 standards from CALEA in order to gain accredited status.  By undergoing this voluntary submittal of intense scrutiny and peer review from the Commission; SHP can prove to the citizens of North Carolina that their state law enforcement agency is among the finest in the nation.

 

As part of the on-site assessment, agency employees and members of the public are invited to offer comments directly to the assessment team during a public information session.  The event will be held on Tuesday, Apr. 3 at 3:30 p.m. at the State Bureau of Investigation auditorium, located at 3320 Garner Rd, Raleigh, NC 27610. Anyone unable to attend the public information session may address the assessors by calling (919) 436-3069 on Tuesday, Apr. 3 between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Comments are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA’s standards.
