The Bladen Five Middle School Conference softball season opened Thursday with scrimmages at Clarkton and Bladenboro.

Shortstop Addie Bowen blasted 3 home runs and batted 4-4 to lead the Clarkton School of Discovery hitters. Teammate Mariah Smith batted 3-3, and firstbaseman Shy’Asia Ratliff walloped a home run and a single.

Emma Turbeville slugged a home run and a single for the Lady Blue Devils. Lena Trinidad, Karli Priest, Maegan Burney, AnnaGrey Heustess, Cydney Campbell, Sophia Masaid, Molly Evans and Ashlyn Williams all collected hits for Clarkton.

Karli Priest pitched 3 hitless innings for CSD.

Gracie Faircloth pitched 3 innings for Tar Heel, and Kaitlyn Brisson beat out an infield hit for the Lady Panthers.

At Bladenboro Rylee Chadwick struck out all 12 batters that she faced in the Lady Bulldogs scrimmage. At the plate Chadwick clobbered a home run and a double.

Savannah Turbeville batted 3-3 for Bladenboro. Catcher Mackenzie Singletary slammed a triple and finished 3-3 at the plate. Hannah Hester walloped a triple and a double for the Lady Bulldogs.

Kaden Thurman, Megan West and Lainey Autry contributed hits to the Bladenboro attack.
