Shoppers are getting their lists ready, and merchants are preparing their stores for the upcoming Labor Day Sidewalk Sale in downtown Elizabethtown. The annual event will take place Friday through Monday.

Stores will be offering plenty of bargains from which folks can choose. Summer merchandise, as well as new fall arrivals, will be available.

Mike Suggs, the owner of Fisher’s Men’s and Ladies Shop, said shoppers will find plenty of shorts and T-shirts on sale. He said Johnny O and Fish Hippie brand items will be on sale for half-price. All items on the sidewalk will be reduced 50 to 90 percent.

Suggs said shoes, flip-flops, shorts, and coats will all be on sale.

“There is plenty of variety,” said Suggs.

Suggs said the store will be open on Friday, August 31, Saturday, September 1, and Monday, September 4, from 9 AM until 6 PM.

“This is the biggest sale of the year (for Leinwand’s Department Store),” said Leinwand.

Some items shoppers can expect to see are Patagonia, True Grit and North Face Ladies, Men’s and children’s jackets will be half price and shoes including Dansko, Clarks, Sketchers, Under Armour and New Balance will be on sale.

Ray’s Furniture and Jewelry Liquidators in Elizabethtown will have plenty of bargains to offer their shoppers, as well. Owner Ray Britt said jewelry will be half price and some items will be marked down even more than half price.

“We are looking for a great weekend. Now is the time to start buying for Christmas,” said Britt.
