RED SPRINGS – Ja’Tyra Moore-Peterson fired in 25 points Friday night to lead East Bladen to a 54-20 Three Rivers Conference victory over Red Springs that was the 500th career coaching victory for Coach Patty Evers.

Moore-Peterson drained a 3-point shot and a free throw, and center Lorna Mendell dropped in 2 baskets as the Lady Eagles grabbed an early 11-2 lead. Senior Erica McKoy netted a basket in the opening period.

McKoy bombed in a 3-point shot in the second period, and Moore-Peterson nailed a 3-point shot and another basket. Junior Patience Ward sank 2 free throws as the East lead grew to 21-4 at halftime.

Freshman Maya McDonald and junior Abbie Cross threw in 2 baskets each in the third quarter, and Moore-Peterson buried another 3-point shot to push the lead to 34-14

Moore-Peterson blistered the nets from long range in the final quarter connecting on four 3-point shots and a free throw. The senior guard finished with seven 3-point baskets in the game, pulled down 6 rebounds and had 2 assists.

Ward pumped in 2 baskets in the final period, and Anna Kate White tossed in a basket. Ward finished with 7 points, and McKoy racked up 6 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.

McDonald contributed 5 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Senior Ashley Hardin grabbed 7 rebounds and dished out 7 assists. Mendell corralled 5 rebounds.

The Lady Eagles improved to 13-0 in league play and 18-1 overall and will host Fairmont Friday night.
