Several drug-related cases were on the docket for Monday’s session of Bladen County Criminal District Court. During the session, several heroin charges were dismissed, one felony charge for larceny of a motor vehicle was reduced to a misdemeanor and 11 cases were continued to the next session.

Christen Diamond Russ,  23, accepted a plea arrangement through her Attorney K. Robert Davis. He told the court that Russ pled guilty to possession with the intent to manufacture, sell and deliver heroin and the State agreed to dismiss all other charges. The charges that were dismissed included sell of heroin, delivering heroin, two counts of conspiracy to sell/deliver heroin, and possession of heroin. 

Bladen County Assistant District Attorney Shirley Smircic told the court that on November 9, 2018, during an investigation by the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics unit, undercover purchases of heroin were made from Russ. 

As per the plea arrangement, Judge Jason Disbrow sentenced Russ to a minimum of 8 months and a maximum of 19 months suspended and 18 months supervised probation. She must also serve 45 days in local confinement with credit being issued for the time she has already served and Russ must complete a TASC assessment.  TASC stands for Treatment Access Center. Russ must complete all of the terms and conditions of the TASC assessment.  She must also pay all of the costs of court. 

Also in court was Travon Lemar Lesane who was allowed to plead guilty to misdemeanor larceny and was sentenced by Judge Disbrow to 60 days active and he was ordered to receive credit for 60 days he had already served waiting for his court date. 

Lesane was originally charged with one count of felony larceny of a motor vehicle. 

Others were also allowed to enter pleas and were sentenced. 

*Roosevelt Dudley pled guilty to possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a schedule II controlled substance. A charge of sell and delivery of a schedule II controlled substance was dismissed. 

Judge Disbrow sentenced Dudley to eight months to 19 months suspended and 18 months of supervised probation. He must also pay court costs, complete a TASC assessment and he must comply with all terms for the TASC assessment. 

*Brittany Marie Garrell pled guilty to possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a schedule III controlled substance, sell and deliver of a schedule III controlled substance, and manufacture, sell, deliver and possession of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a park. 

Judge Disbrow sentenced Garrell to four months active and four months suspended and 12 months of supervised probation. She must also pay court costs and complete a TASC assessment. Farrell must comply with all terms for the TASC assessment. 

*James Brandon Gordan pled guilty to one count of possession with intent to sell, deliver and deliver a schedule I controlled substance. Other charged pending against Gordan were dismissed. They included possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, flee/eluding arrest, failure to stop for a stop sign/flashing red light. Gordan was sentenced to 21 months supervised probation and must preform 72 hours of community service. Gordan is allowed to carry out his sentence in his home county of Mecklenburg. 

*Luther Gore received a conditional discharge on charges of possession with intent to sell, manufacture, and deliver schedule II controlled substance and sell and deliver a schedule II controlled substance. His scheduled review date is August 25, 2020. 

Several cases were also continued on Monday. 

*Cornelius Latrel Allen is facing charges of sell/deliver a schedule II controlled substance and possession with intent to manufacture sell and deliver schedule II controlled substance. His next court appearance is scheduled for March 6, 2019. 

*Amy Autry is charged with two counts of selling of schedule III controlled substance, deliver of schedule III controlled substance, two counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver schedule III controlled substance, two counts of conspiracy to sell and deliver schedule III controlled substance, and manufacture, sell, deliver and possession of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school. Her next scheduled court appearance is March 6, 2019. 

*Jerry Wayne Autry is charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver schedule III controlled substance, sell and deliver schedule III controlled substance, conspiracy to sell and deliver schedule III controlled substance, manufacture, sell, deliver and possession of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance, simple possession of a schedule IV controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is schedule to appear in court on March 6, 2019. 

*Robert Anthony Byrd is charged with selloff schedule III controlled substance, deliver of schedule III controlled substance, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver controlled substance, maintaining a vehicle/dwelling/place for a controlled substance, and manufacture, sell, deliver and possession of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a park. His next scheduled court appearance is April 25th, 2019.

*Dorothy Ranea Deaver is charged with conspiracy to sell and deliver schedule III controlled substance, sell and deliver of schedule III controlled substance, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver schedule III controlled substance, manufacture schedule III controlled substance, and manufacture, sell, deliver and possession of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a park. Her next scheduled court appearance is April 25th, 2019. 

*Denise Lacewell is charged with sell of schedule II controlled substance, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver schedule II controlled substance. Her next court appearance is set for May 14, 2019. 

*Kimberly Lynn McKoy is charged with sell and deliver of schedule II controlled substance and possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver schedule II controlled substance. Her next court appearance is set for March 6, 2019.

*David Charles Shaw is charged with sell of schedule II controlled substance, delivery of schedule II controlled substance and possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver schedule II controlled substance. His next scheduled court appearance is set for March 6, 2019. 

  • Benjamin Franklin Todd is charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a schedule III controlled substance, sell and delivery of schedule III controlled substance, and possession with the intent to manufacture, sell and deliver schedule III controlled substance. 
  • Antonia Valdez is charged with larceny by employee. Her next scheduled court appearance is March 6, 2019. 

*Martin Ivey White is charged with breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, and injury to real property. His next scheduled court appearance is March 6, 2019. 

One individual did not attend court. Jaquan Prince is charged with one count of simple possession of of schedule VI controlled substance. He will also be charged with failure to appear.
