WHITE LAKE – West Bladen finished second in Wednesday’s season-opening Three Rivers Conference golf match at Vineyard Golf behind South Columbus.

The Knights carded a total of 396 strokes for four players to finish behind the Stallions’ 369. West Columbus placed third with a 421 total and East Bladen was fourth with a 452. St. Pauls (483), Red Springs (489) and Whiteville (491) rounded out the field.

West Bladen’s Wyatt Bordeaux fired an 86 to lead the Knights and placed him fourth behind two South Columbus players  – medalist Landon Rising (83) and Caleb Click (84) – and South Robeson’s Zachary Brayboy (85). The Mustangs only brought 2 players and couldn’t compete as a team.

Other West Bladen scores included Chad Garner (98), Jared Storms (106) and John Brust (108).

Jason Baxter topped the East Bladen golfers with a 110 score. Teammates Nick Norris and Chance Hester both carded 113 totals, and Alex Avellaende shot a 116.

The next league match will be Monday at Fairmont.
