National Weather ServiceA Heat Wave will bring Dangerous Levels of Heat and Humidity TODAY

High temperatures today will be mainly in the upper 90s with a few 100 degree readings expected inland.  Locations closest to the beaches will reach the mid 90s before the sea breeze develops.  Couple these temperatures with humidity levels and for many areas it will feel as if it were 102 to 104 degrees for a few hours this afternoon.
Event higher levels of heat and humidity are expected Monday and Tuesday and this is when heat distress will be most probable.  The National Weather Service will issue a heat advisory when widespread heat index values reach or exceed 105 degrees.  Excessive heat warnings are issued for heat index values of 110 degrees or higher.
This is the first heat wave of the year.  It is important to remember your hear preparedness actions since spending significant time outside can be dangerous.  Plan any outdoor activities early or late in the day.  When outside….drink plenty of water to stay hydrated…wear light clothing…and take frequent breaks in the shade.  Ensure that pets and livestock have plenty of water and shaded ventilation.  Never leave pets or children unattended in a vehicle….They may not survive.
