Before the class of 2019 graduated at West Bladen High School they paused to recognize one local teacher and celebrate her retirement. Ms. Susan M. Kelly, from Bladenboro, a West Bladen English Teacher was honored for all her hard work during the graduation practice in May. The West Bladen senior class of 2019 gave Ms. Kelly a gift certificate to NC Theater Shows in Raleigh to help celebrate her retirement.
Ms. Kelly taught 39 years with 29 of those years with just with graduating seniors. Ms. Kelly didn’t want any of the spotlight, instead she wanted all the focus to be on the 188 graduates.
Ms. Kelly said, “I’m old school but, the students seem to like that.”
The graduates applauded Ms. Kelly and spoke about highly of her and her work during their years at the school.
