Nearly 400 people cast ballots during the first week of early voting in North Carolina’s 9th congressional district special election, according to figures released Saturday by the Bladen County Board of Elections.

Early voting will continue through Friday, Sept. 6 prior to Election Day, which is Sept. 10. There is no voting on Sundays nor Labor Day, Sept. 2.

Candidates for the U.S. House seat are Democrat Dan McCready, Republican Dan Bishop, Green Party’s Allen Smith and Libertarian Jeff Scott.

The four-day total showed 380 votes recorded at Bladen County’s two early voting sites.

Saturday, 46 ballots were recorded at the Elections Board office in Elizabethtown and six at the Tar Heel Municipal Building located across from Tar Heel Middle School.

Friday, the Elizabethtown location recorded 93 votes and Tar Heel recorded 25.

There were a combined 87 votes recorded Wednesday and 123 votes Thursday.

Early voting hours are:

Bladen County Board of Elections office, Cypress Street, Elizabethtown: 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Tar Heel Municipal Building, 14867 NC 87 West: 10:30 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Photo ID is not required in any election in 2019.

The 17-day early-voting period allows any registered voter to cast an absentee ballot in person at any early voting site in their county, says the State Board of Elections. Early voting also offers “same-day registration,” which allows individuals eligible to vote who aren’t yet registered in their county to register and vote at the same time.
