More than 900 people have cast ballots through Thursday during the early voting period for North Carolina’s 9th Congressional District special election, according to figures released by the Bladen County Board of Elections.
Early voting will continue through Friday, Sept. 6 prior to Election Day, which is Sept. 10. There is no voting on Sundays nor Labor Day, Sept. 2.
Candidates for the U.S. House seat are Democrat Dan McCready, Republican Dan Bishop, Green Party’s Allen Smith and Libertarian Jeff Scott.
The eight-day total showed 919 votes recorded at Bladen County’s two early voting sites, the Elections Board office in Elizabethtown and the Tar Heel Municipal Building located across from Tar Heel Middle School.

Early voting hours are:
Bladen County Board of Elections office, Cypress Street, Elizabethtown: 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Tar Heel Municipal Building, 14867 NC 87 West: 10:30 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Photo ID is not required in any election in 2019.
The 17-day early-voting period allows any registered voter to cast an absentee ballot in person at any early voting site in their county, says the State Board of Elections. Early voting also offers “same-day registration,” which allows individuals eligible to vote who aren’t yet registered in their county to register and vote at the same time.
