LUMBERTON – West Bladen sophomore Haley George placed third in the first Three Rivers Conference girls’ cross country meet of the season Wednesday at Luther Britt Park.
Three Bladen County runners posted top ten finishes in the 5,000 meter race that was won by St. Pauls’ Jazmine Corenzo in a time of 25 minutes 11 seconds.

George finished in 25:34, only 23 seconds behind Corenzo. East Bladen’s Cate Devane finished sixth in 25:57 and teammate Rachel Horrey was ninth in 28:34.
Other West Bladen runners with their places and times follow: Olivia Allen, 14th, 31:01; Tinyaah Rhoda, 20th, 33:04; Azillyah McDonald, 21st, 33:18; Ocean Woody, 24th, 35:52; Cassi Humphrey, 35th, 42:14; Hannah Pait, 36th, 42:19; Leta Cain, 38th, 42:34; Angie Garrido-Perez, 39th, 45:04.
Other East Bladen runners were: Teronda Autry, 16th, 31:10; Aniya McKoy, 23rd, 35:51; Anaiyah Jackson, 32nd, 37:33; Nacaela Melvin, 33rd, 37:34.
The next Three Rivers meet will be Wednesday at 4:30 at Red Springs.
