Checking the drought meter for our area … we are in the normal category, true for most areas east of I-95. Mid state and western NC, moderate to abnormally dry.

NFL action last night … Philadelphia Eagles 34 – Green Bay Packers 27.

High School football action tonight … East Bladen at Red Springs and East Columbus at West Bladen. … The Eagles hopeful of extending their one game winning streak and the Knights are still looking for their first win of the season.

One more event to add to our weekend schedule. A BBQ plate fundraiser is being held at noon Saturday, September 28th at Zion Hill community building. … Proceeds will benefit autism efforts. The location is NC 410 … about 3 or 4 miles north of Bladenboro … on the right as you head toward Dublin. Plates are $7 each and donations are welcomed.

Tomorrow, a big event in Clarkton (Clarkton Farm Fest) and a gospel sing fundraiser for Southeastern Carolina Crossroads at Elizabethtown Middle School beginning at 6 p.m.

In Raleigh, still no budget approved … well, kinda, sorta … piece by piece, was due July 1 … and in DC, who knows. Turmoil reigns, more than usual. Bladen County and local town budgets were due and were approved prior to July 1.

Autumn has arrived, but summer weather continues. First frost usually arrives the latter days of October, or first few days of November. September 2019 is slipping away.
