Rev. T. Anthony Spearman with the NC NAACP confirmed at a news conference on Friday at the Legislative Building in Raleigh the U.S. District Court Judge, Loretta Biggs put a temporary hold on North Carolina’s voter ID law.

On Thursday, Judge Biggs issued the notice stating a photo ID will not be required by voters during the 2020 primaries in March.

The Voter ID requirement will be halted unless an upcoming preliminary injunction is successfully appealed, according to officials. The plans by State Board of Elections office to expand efforts to educate voters about the new ID law has also been postponed.
