HALLSBORO – Kaley Mitchell fired in 13 points Monday to lead Hallsboro to a 29-21 Waccamaw Middle School Conference victory over Clarkton School of Discovery.
Mitchell drained a pair of 3-point shots in the first quarter as the Lady Tigers grabbed a 9-4 lead. Alaya White threw in a pair of baskets for the Lady Blue Devils.
White pumped in 2 baskets and a free throw in the second period, and Mialanni McDowell added a basket as Clarkton trimmed the margin to 15-11 at halftime.
Shy’Asia Ratliff and White dropped in a basket each for the Lady Blue Devils in the third period, but Hallsboro opened up a 23-15 lead. Kaniyah Hairston rallied Clarkton with a trio of baskets in the final quarter.
White topped the Lady Blue Devils with 11 points, and Hairston followed with 6 points.
The Lady Blue Devils, now 3-1 in Waccamaw Division A play and 3-2 overall, will host Tabor City Thursday.
