The annual Bladen County Foundation Gala was held Saturday, February 29 at Lu Mil Vineyard in Dublin. The who’s who were all decked out with glitz and glamour.

“This (the Gala) is our biggest fundraiser,” said Ashely Dowless with Cape Fear Valley-Bladen Healthcare. She said the proceeds from the Gala go towards the greatest needs at the hospital.

Elizabethtown Mayor, Sylvia Campbell, stood to thank the hospital officials for all they bring to the county. She said, “This hospital is our greatest assest. It’s a vital part of our community.”

Cape Fear Valley-Bladen County Hospital has been through a lot in the past year. Cape Fear Valley’s Chief Operating Officer, Dan Weatherly and other hospital officials took time to give information about the hospital’s impact and the facility improvements.

They have seen over 15,000 people, completed over 750 surgeries, and seen over 35,000 patients in their community clinics in the last 12 months. The hospital also implemented a new electronic system (EPIC), made improvements to the inside and the outside of the hospital. There are new operating rooms, new patients room, new windows, signs, lights and more, according to Steven Fife with Bladen County Hospital.

Bladen County Hospital Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Bladen County Hospital. All funds donated to Bladen County Hospital Foundation are dedicated to programs and services at Bladen County Hospital.

This year the foundation renovated the hospital’s sleep labs, paid for training, licenses and more, Steven Fife added.

Donations for the hospital foundation are collected all year long.
