Elizabethtown Police Chief Tony Parrish

Spread the love

Citizens of Elizabethtown,

During the past few weeks, I have attended several meetings with local community leaders to discuss issues relating to police-community relations.  The biggest thing that I got from talking with these community leaders was that they felt that their voices were not being heard, and there is a lack of communication between law enforcement and the community.  We all agreed, that like any relationship, communication is the key to success.

As your police chief, I am dedicated to making sure that all voices are heard, and that all people are treated equally, regardless of race, sex, or socioeconomic background.

Beginning on Wednesday, July 1st our department will be implementing the “Coffee with a Cop” program.  This program is designed so that you and your neighbors can get together for coffee and conversation with your local neighborhood police officers.  There will be no agenda and no speeches, just coffee, and a chance to ask questions, voice your concerns, and get to know the officers in your community.  On Wednesday, July 1st we will be at Cindy’s Restaurant, located at 1667 South Poplar Street from 8 am -10 am.

Also, in an effort to keep the dialogue ongoing, we will do this at a different restaurant around Elizabethtown on the first Wednesday of each month, from 8:00 am to 10:00 am.  We will advertise the location in advance via social media.

If you have any questions, you can contact me at 910-862-3125.

Sincerely,

Tony Parrish

Chief of Police
