RED SPRINGS-Seniors Ashlyn Cox and Sidnee Walters sparked West Bladen to a 3-0 non-conference volleyball victory over Red Springs Wednesday night by set scores of 25-21, 25-14 and 25-18.
Cox poured in 17 service points that included 9 aces, dished out 21 assists and had one kill. Walters pounded in 13 kills and tallied 5 service points. Senior Amelia Brisson drilled in 5 aces, 3 other service points and 2 kills.
Sophomore Emily Young racked up 10 service points that included an ace, and had 2 kills and 3 digs for the winners. Sophomore Whitney McLean hammered in 6 kills, an ace, a block and 3 other service points. Senior Shelby Pharr slammed in 5 kills, 2 aces and another service point.
Senior Alyssa Suggs contributed 2 service points and a dig for West. Sophomore Lydia Villagomez knocked in a kill and a block, and junior Caroline Brisson and sophomore Catherine Dowless had one dig each.
Coach Gaye Davis’ Lady Knights improved to 2-0 and will travel to rival East Bladen Monday at 4:30.
