There is an empty seat on the Town of Bladenboro’s Board of Commissioners. Mr. Rodney Hester submitted his letter of resignation effective immediately on Thursday, November 24, 2020, as Bladenboro Town Commissioner. Mr. Hester is resigning to accept his new position as an elected Bladen County Commissioner. There will be a swearing in ceremony for Mr. Hester’s new role as a member of the Bladen County Board of Commissioners on December 7, 2020.

Mayor of Bladenboro, Rufus Duckworth, made the following statement regarding Mr. Hester’s resignation. “I wish Rodney luck in his new position on the County Board, and I know that our county will grow to even a better place to live and raise a family under his leadership as County Commissioner.”

According to Mayor Duckworth, several citizens have already expressed interest in serving the Town of Bladenboro in the position Mr. Hester has left vacant. As guidelines specify, a sign-up sheet will be available for registered voters who are citizens of the Town of Bladenboro at the Bladenboro Town Hall during regular business hours starting on Monday, November 30, 2020. The sign-up opportunity will close at 5 pm on Friday, December 4, 2020. The Town Board will review the sign-up list after December 4 and decide who shall fill the position.
