From Bladen County baseball and softball teams showing their skills, to concerts, fun by the water, and great churches, Bladen County is always standing tall. I would like to share some things that made me smile this weekend and some of the reasons I love the “Mother County”.
First off, congratulations to all our fine athletes out there! We are so proud of each and every one of the players that, have been and continue to, play hard. We are also grateful for the coaches, and families supporting our teams.
Don’t forget there are more sports activities to come. West Bladen Cheerleading, East Bladen Soccer Camps, and West Bladen Volleyball sign ups are all available and coming soon. There are some terrific coaches waiting to mold some young athletes.
We’ve heard if you missed the LACS concert at Cape Fear ATV Park, you missed a great concert. The pictures I saw made it look fun. I would have been there, but I had to celebrate my youngest son’s 8th birthday.
We had a blast and I would like to give a big shout out to all the Jones Lake State Park Rangers, and staff members there for always helping us have a memorable, fun, and educational time. If you haven’t been yet, you should go!
One more secret about why I love Bladen County. Greene’s Pond is a destination everyone should put on their list. You wouldn’t believe the peaceful, wonderful time you can have right behind Food Lion in Elizabethtown. The owners, Lee and Hobby Greene, just built a nice cabin by the river that is available for rent and can sleep eight people. If you like fishing, kayaking, walking trails and being outdoors, you will love Greene’s Pond, my family and I do.
Last but not least, I love the people most of all. Bladen County has some of the sweetest, most caring, and generous people you will ever know. I love that because I believe if we all stay sweet, caring and generous, this world will be a much better place. I hope you all have a great week!
