The Bladen County Animal Control Board is pleased to announce the Christmas Pet Costume Contest winners for Bladen County. The local Board held the fundraiser contest to benefit Dr. N.W. Midyette Animal Shelter (Bladen County Animal Control and Shelter), located on Smith Circle in Elizabethtown.

Bladen County pet owners contributed photos of their furry friends dressed up for the holidays during November and December for the contest.

Chairman of the Bladen County Animal Control Board, Mike Jackson, said, “First, we would like to thank all our sponsors for their support with this contest. The sponsors and the community came together to help raise awareness and funds for the Bladen County Animal Control and Shelter.”

Between December 28th and 29th, over 800 votes were cast for the 20 pets featured in the competition. The sponsors donated over $5,000 for the contest. View the pets entered in the contest below.

“The money received will be used efficiently by animal control,” Jackson stated. Rabies vaccines, food, and other supplies are some of the ways donations raised will be spent at the local animal shelter.

Next week the Board will present the sponsorship collections to the Dr. N.W. Midyette Animal Shelter. The contest’s top five winners may pick up their prizes at the Bladen Online office at 1110 South Poplar Street in Elizabethtown. The following businesses donated the awards, according to board member Gail Dove: Midyette’s Grooming, Leinwand’s, Sign Logic, OFC Productions, Bladen Builders, Burney’s Sweets & More, Pure Harmony Massage, Fisher’s Women & Men’s Apparel, Sassy Chick Boutique, Lu Mil Vineyard, The Car Wash, and the Elizabethtown Veterinary Hospital.
