A representative from Genesis Systems gave a demonstration at the Elizabethtown Fire Department Thursday night of the new models of eFORCE Battery-Driven Rescue Tools. Hydrolic tools like The Spreader, the Cutter, and the Ram, are used by First responders to open vehicles and rescue people when car crashes twist the metal or doors cannot be easily opened. These tools are life saving devices. The Spreader can force two pieces of crumpled metal to separate. The Cutter can clip through a door hinge in minutes. “We  cut up some cars to test the new equipment.,” said Fire Chief Nick West.”

“The fire department is looking to improve is rescue capabilities with new portable rescue tools,” West continued. “The new equipment is completely self-contained and can be used by one person to help speed up the removal of patients from motor vehicle accidents. These tools are battery driven and do not require the use of hoses and pumps like traditional rescue tools.” The tools that are now in use at the E’town Fire Department are hydrolic, but they require that cords and hoses be attached prior to use to provide power.

The new generation of eFORCE Rescue Tools are battery driven. There are no cords or hoses to attach, and the batteries last 30 or 40 minutes on a single charge. This also saves valuable time at the scene of an accident, when First Responders may have less that an hour to rescue a victim from a badly mangled vehicle.  Click Here to view the YouTube video of these tools in action.
