CERRO GORDO – West Columbus defeated West Bladen 7-2 Monday in Three Rivers Conference boys’ soccer action Monday. The game was stopped with about 10 minutes left due to wet playing conditions.
Junior Joshua DeLeon banged in the 1st Knight goal on a play that included several good passes. “It was a real team effort to get that goal,” said West Bladen Coach Cesar Gonzales. Sophomore Jordan Underwood was credited with an assist.
Underwood scored the 2nd Knight goal. “There was a lot of clutter in the box and Jordan was able to gain control and knock it in,” said Coach Gonzales.
Coach Gonzales praised the play of freshman goalie Oswaldo Gonzalez and senior Albert Reyes Gonzalez. “Oswaldo had several good saves and also stopped a penalty kick, and Albert played a really good game.”
The Knights will host Red Springs at 4:30 Wednesday.
