CLARKTON – The Clarkton School of Discovery Blue Devils built a 2-0 lead then held off a late Nakina rally to post a 2-1 Waccamaw Middle School Conference victory over the Mustangs Monday.
Diego Santos-Hernandez blasted a shot into the left corner of the net in the 1st half that put the Blue Devils ahead 1-0 at halftime. In the 2nd half, Keyshawn Fennell-Kemp drilled in a goal off an assist from Malikah Moore that stretched the lead to 2-0.
The Mustangs lofted a long free kick over the Clarkton keeper to trim the margin to 2-1.
Coach Jordan Raynor’s Blue Devils, now 2-1, will host Williams Township Tuesday.
