BLADENBORO – Junior Peyton Duncan pitched a 1-hitter and struck out 11 batters Tuesday night as unbeaten South Columbus defeated West Bladen 7-0 in Three Rivers Conference softball action.

Freshman Lena Trinidad beat out a bunt single leading off the 6th inning for the only Lady Knight hit. Sophomore Rylee Chadwick was hit by a pitch in the 1st inning to account for the only other base-runner for West.

Chadwick pitched 4-plus innings for the Lady Knights and allowed 6 runs – 3 earned- on 4 hits and 2 walks, while striking out six. Sophomore Madison Taylor relieved and pitched the final 3 innings and allowed an unearned run on a hit and a walk while striking out one.

Freshman Olivia Watts smashed a 2-out double to right-centerfield to drive in the 1st Lady Stallion run in the 2nd inning. Sophomore Alexuz Barnes led off the South 4th inning with a single, and a trio of West Bladen errors plus a walk produced 3 runs and opened up a 4-0 lead.

Senior Alanna Deal walloped a 2-run Lady Stallion home run in the 5th inning that grew the lead to 6-0. Freshman Brileigh Ward knocked in the final South run with a single.

West Bladen, now 5-2 in league play and 9-4 overall, will host East Bladen Thursday at 6 p.m. in their season finale.
